Microsoft's statement on the result in Microsoft v. AT&T makes an important point. "that today’s decision applies the patent law to software in the same way it’s applied to other inventions."
Amicus briefs by the Software Freedom Law Center and Eli Lilly urged the Court to extend its inquiry and determine that software is not patentable.
