Give Me a Creative Idea

Liberal blogger Cory Doctorow takes a hard swing at the RIAA for, well, existing, while conservative blogger Glenn Reynolds applauds.

I wish that some of these sneerers would get down in the arena and devise some business plans that produce creative products without offering them any protection against free riding. I think the record industry should sue MORE of the selfish free riders -- it owes it to those responsible members of the music loving community who are willing to pay their share. as well as to the artists.

I've posted this several times before, but my posts seem to never show up, so I'm going to try again: A much more effective and less hate-inducing (not to mention far cheaper) measure is what is going on up in Canada with the e-mail warnings:

http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2007/02/14/software-warnings.html

It's far less invasive, more protective of privacy, and doesn't illicit such hatred.

Um, doesn't Cory make his living selling novels that are CC-licensed and produced into DRM-free ebooks? Sounds like a business plan to me.
