Letter to My Norwegian Cousins

Norway Declares Apple's ITunes Illegal.

And. In Europe too. As the Vikings once came forth, declaring that what is yours is mine.

Surely you jest. Or, if not, do put off making such decisions in the winter months, for surely only the grip of the bitterest depression could lead to such a sad perception of how markets serve consumers. Better that consumers have nothing than that they not be able to plug and play everything into every orifice. For consistencies sake, outlaw also Nintendos and Playstations and so on. And then sit there in the dark playing record albums.

Oh, no, you protest. Not that. We know better than to pronouce any general principle in advance. Instead we will wait until the service is established, and then demand that everyone else may prey upon it, for what deserves to be cut down more than the first to market? There's competition policy for you.

If you must make decisions in the winter, try those full spectrum lamps. Or at the very least, get birdfeeders. I find mine immensely cheering. I see a black-capped Chickadee, and several little crested grey fellows whose names I do not know.
