What the [CSM] article fails to mention is that patents aren’t the biggest barrier to access. Without patents on most AIDS medicines (and nominal patents that aren’t respected for most others) only 12,000 AIDS Indian patients are being treated regularly – in a country where it is estimated that over 5 million have the HIV virus!
