Imagine my surprise to be informed of new Copyright Office DMCA circumvention rules by my in-laws while visiting with them on Thanksgiving. But that's when the U.S. Copyright Office snuck out the new exemptions -- six of them -- namely the day before Thanksgiving, and an AP reporter wrote it up where my wife's folks saw it their local newspaper. Don't know why the CO was so cagey on this one; they were due out a couple weeks ago. They should have wanted a media splash; they've given more exemptions in this triennial review than in the previous ones. I'll blog more when I've further examined them (and have fully recovered from the tryptophan).
