The Knack vs. Run DMC

The band The Knack is suing Run DMC, Arista Records and a bevy of distributors for the sampling of the "My Sharona" guitar riff on the single "It's Tricky."

Please, follow the link to the videos - for research purposes, of course. (I 'd forgotten about the Run DMC helicopter!)

I'm sure I speak for many tone-sensitive music fans when I ask that the court not have the Run DMC members sing in open court:(

Are you actually suggesting that the lead singer of The Knack has a better tone to his voice than Rev. Run?

I think it's possible that this will get tossed almost immediately. The statute of limitations for copyright infringement is three years for both civil and criminal lawsuits, and this is way, way overdue.

Although, they may be able to recover damages for those three years after release of the Run song.

Commons-
I had to listen to the song again and, probably because of my old PC speakers, I really couldn't hear the guitar riff. Thoughts?
