Gotta Love Free Enterprise

Digg makes a name for itself by having its users promote and rank stories, although it turns out it's an elite few that are actually making the selections. Then Netscape copies the model, but offers to pay top Digg contributors for their efforts if they migrate to Netscape. The blogosphere erupts in moral outrage. But now at least one top Digg user is selling his username on eBay to someone hoping to get some of that sweet Netscape cash, and at least one observer isn't surprised. (FYI, as of this post time, the bid was at $710; you have until 12:30 PDT on August 6th to have that username be yours.)
