Pirate Party Update

The "Pirate Party" in Sweden (see here and here) is now offering Relakks, new "darknet" which gives you a new IP address via a heavily encripted VPN connection - all for about 5 euros a month.

It seems that the party's message has evolved a bit from its focus on copyright reform to now encompass privacy.
From a BCC article:

"There are many legitimate reasons to want to be completely anonymous on the Internet," says Rickard Falkvinge, chairman of the Pirate Party. "The right to exchange information in private is fundamental to the democratic society. Without a safe and convenient way of accessing the internet anonymously, this right is rendered null and void," he said in a statement.

More riveting updates from me a bit later- after the Aspen Summit.

hmmm. I had always wanted to be a pirate. Esp. after reading a book from my grandfathers book store, Treasure island, illustrated by N.C. Wyeth. (I was so lucky that his bookstore went belly up in the late 1930's.)

So, making a donation and becoming a member of the political party is perhaps as close as I'll ever come.

BTW, I still have that book. I suppose I should do some extra high quality scans and add them to the Wikipedia article on NC Wyeth.
