The Heartland Institute examines the Massachusetts Open Document Format procurement policy, and finds it wanting.
Personally, I am a bit wary of software policies issued by a state that regards it as standard procurement practice to allow substandard concrete in its tunnels -- but at least the software won't kill you (unless you go to the hospital, or rely on it for air traffic control, or ... hmm.)
Nothing against the ODF folks, but I really do not want the MA government involved in this, at least not if there is any chance I might have to visit MA sometime. Let the end users, who bear the responsibility for making their enterprises work, decide what software they want to use.
