A bone in the throat of conventional media has been Google's practice of picking up content for free, and then making money by attaching paid links to it when it is displayed on Google News. Now, says the WSJ, Google has "agreed to license content from AP to use as part of a new service" ("license" usually means "pay").
"Most of the big new superpowers on the Web aren't spending any money on content creation," said [an AP VP], "and that's what many of us in the traditional media do best. It's a very powerful partnership if you can get the business model right."
