The Canonist notes that the staff of Vatican Radio recently gave the Pope an iPod pre-loaded with religious music. He wants to know if the music was legally downloaded.
Interesting question. The RIAA says:
"If you choose to take your own CDs and make copies for yourself on your computer or portable music player, that's great. It's your music and we want you to enjoy it at home, at work, in the car and on the jogging trail."How would this apply to CDs owned by Vatican Radio ripped onto an iPod for the Pope? I doubt if it's kosher to rip corporate-owned CDs, even for the Pope.
