Predictably, the copyleft is none too happy with the French decision on DVD copying Jim outlines below. A copyleftist from Paris sent this missive to Dave Farber's list after the decision:
Looks like in a few days, given the current government & IP lobbies law proposal, french citizen won't even have the right to talk about software in the area without facing jail...
He's told that the contract terms that come with DVDs -- no copying -- apply to the French, and he imagines he'll soon be jailed for speech. Yes, the IP debate is a rational and reasoned one.
