Emerging Artists and IP on the Hill

I'll get to speak more about the rights of artists in September, when I'll be speaking on a panel called "Protecting Your Music" at the Emerging Artists Music Conference in Las Vegas on September 14th. It's a really exciting event focusing on "up and coming" DJ's, producers and artists in the electronica and hip-hop genres of music. The panel before me is called "Advanced Turntablism," which I am eager to attend. I have no idea why they are permitting a square like me to participate (my copanelist has represented Playboy Playmates and the estate of Tupac Shakur) but I'm looking forward to it.

On April 24th I will be speaking at a conference in Los Angeles titled "Worldwide Piracy Prevention: Protecting rights in film, music, software, gaming, broadcasting & publishing." I'm speaking on a panel on IP activity on Capitol Hill; I'm looking forward to it, but they seem to be expecting a PowerPoint presentation, and I'm allergic to PowerPoint. I have a few weeks yet to decide how I'll handle that one. The conference is packed with great panels and compelling speakers, and I'm looking forward to that one as well.

If any IPcentral readers find themselves at either of the conferences, be sure to come up and say hello, even if you feel we are an evil enterprise bent on cultural destruction!
