Europe's Answer to Google

Jim and Patrick leave some big shoes to fill this week and I am on a search to find intersting happenings in the world of IP.

My first find - Europe Seeks its Search Engine

In a nutshell, Germany are France planning to finance a search engine to compete with Google and Yahoo.

According to the article, the initiative "aims to develop next-generation leadership in search technology, software for managing copyrights and digital ownership, and what one document called 'cultural-heritage management.'"

The article also suggests that this might be a thinly veiled response to Google Book Search...
