More on Massachusetts Software Standards

Microsoft has announced that it will be seeking to standardize its Office Open XML format. One effect of this will be that a standardized Office Open XML will comply with Massachusetts' software guidelines favoring "open" products, and potentially with a number of other countries' standards as well. The MS standard will be backwards-compatible with Word docs, which isn't possible with Open Office.
