Randy May has fun with the WaPo expose that John Roberts and his colleagues at DOJ in the '80's "read and discussed books such as Plato's 'Republic,' the Federalist Papers and Adam Smith's 'The Wealth of Nations.'"
Most fascinating is the implication that the newspaper's reporters and editors are proud non-readers of these works, which are fundamental to an understanding of American government. The story also reminds me of the old joke about the politician who accused his opponent of engaging in the practice of lucubration -- clearly something the media is rarely guilty of.
