Apple is basically printing money with its iPods, but John Paczkowski points to a Robert X. Cringely piece in which the latter speculates that iPods soon may support the WMA format. Cringely also says Steve Jobs sees iTunes as the gravy train of the future. He needed iPods to propel the music service but going forward would license iPod manufacture to others to get out of the narrow-margin CE business. That would be an interesting move for Apple, which refused to license the Macintosh.
