The International Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI) has started a Discussion Forum. First topic: the EU proposed Directive on Computer Implemented Inventions.
The Forum will feature a new article on this subject every week, starting with an entry by Dr. Jacques Michel, former VP of the European Patent Office. Comments are welcome.
As IIPI Chairman Bruce Lehman says:
It is important to remember that the patentability of computer implemented inventions, or lack there of, will have a profound effect on European industry and competitiveness. Not only will Europe’s software industry be affected, but because computer implemented inventions have become entrenched in so many technological fields, industries from bioinformatics to industrial machinery will also be impacted by the final disposition of the CII Directive.
