According to The Hill:

George Soros told a carefully vetted gathering of 70 likeminded millionaires and billionaires last weekend that they must be patient if they want to realize long-term political and ideological yields from an expected massive investment in “startup” progressive think tanks.

One thing sure -- on the topics of concern here, "progressive" does not mean "in favor of IP and markets." So I wonder how many entertainment executives were at the meeting, happily offering to buy the rope with which the New Commons movement will hang them.

I also have two tips for the movement:

(1) You start with ideas, and then figure out how to fund them. You don't start with funds and assume they will produce ideas. The "progressives" already have most of academia and the big foundations; if they are not already producing ideas with those resources, then they should pack it in.

(2) Spending a lot of money to promote silly ideas is not a good approach. The more people are exposed to your silliness, the more they turn off. So from our point of view, go ahead -- spend millions telling people that eliminating IP will cause a great outburst of creativity.
