C|Net had a strange story this morning on the proposed EU Patent Directive, portraying it as a contest between the big guys (e.g., Nokia and Microsoft), and "many small companies." But the link to the latter referred to a demonstration mounted by the Free Software Foundation, which is not exactly a hotbed of business entrepreneurialism, since it is composed of people who think that propertizing any IP is immoral.
None of us here at PFF have a good grasp of what is going on with the EU Directive. Hopefully, in the near future we will learn something and have intelligent comments. Pending this event, for those who cannot wait, here are some links to journalistic, scholarly, and industry discussions of this complex issue, furnished by people who do know something about the problem.
