The USPTO released the annual list of top ten university patent recipients. For the 11th year in a row, the winner is: The University of California at Berkeley, with 424, far ahead of second place Cal Tech (135) and third place MIT (132).
It's particularly interesting because universities are such important parts of the "commons" thinking discussed by Patrick Ross recently.
Hey guys -- start at home. Picket the UC Chancellor's office chanting "Patents belong to the People!" Offer to pay higher tuition if the university renounces any income derived from intellectual property.
